Having an outside general counsel was invaluable to our company.  Lloyd and his team consistently exceeded expectations, and expertly managed the sale of our company in 2020.

Having an outside GC has been a good fit for our start-up business. Until we get to a point where hiring a full time GC makes sense, having a dedicated and fractional GC is exactly the right balance we were looking for. In my experience, the more well-known law firms can't compete with the turn-around time, accessibility and practical legal support that we consistently get from Outside General Counsel.

The outside General Counsel model works really well for small and mid-size companies needing consistent, but not full-time, general legal representation. We appointed Lloyd Chatfield as our GC, albeit on a part-time basis, and integrated him as a member of our executive leadership team.  The integration was seamless; I would wager that a fair number of our staff did not even realize that he was not a full-time staff member.  He served as our main point of contact with external specialist counsel, provided our contract review, supervised our in-house paralegal, and represented us well in litigation and in high-value negotiations, ultimately including the sale of the business.  I would not hesitate to call on OGC for future needs.

I have been working with Lloyd Chatfield for more than 10 years as our Outside General Counsel.  He has been a vital resource in so many areas of our business ranging from minor, but important, tactical real estate issues to being a key member of our strategic development team.  He’s a definite, go-to resource that’s quick with a direct response or helping to find a solution if it’s outside of his scope of expertise.  His diverse experience, in addition to his solutions based method, makes him a vital part of our business.  I am very happy to be working with Lloyd and would easily recommend him to others.
